Yesterday my Ethernet suddenly stopped working, it reckoned that my Ethernet cable wasn't even plugged in. I ended up fixing that problem and making my computer recognize my ethernet cables existence by going to device manager > Network Adapters > Properties of my Ethernet's one > Advanced and changing "Speed & Duplex" from "Auto Negotiation" to 10 MBps Full Duplex (half duplex also works).
